Overview:
This interface allows you to manage the wheel group’s membership. The system grants users in the wheel group the permission to execute the su command, which allows a user to gain root or superuser access.

This interface does not grant users permission to run the
sudocommand. To grant users permission to execute thesudocommand, open the/etc/sudoersfile and uncomment the following line:%wheel ALL=(ALL) ALL -
We strongly suggest that you use the
visudocommand to open the/etc/sudoersfile. Thevisudocommand opens the/etc/sudoersfile in a text editor and validates the file’s syntax when you save your changes. For more information about thevisudocommand, read sudo.ws’s Visudo Manual documentation.
Manage wheel group users
To add a user to the wheel group, perform the following steps:

Select the desired user from the Add a user to the wheel group menu.

Click Add to Group.
To remove a user from the wheel group, perform the following steps:

Select the appropriate user from the Remove a user from the wheel group menu.

Click Remove from Group.
