How to setup DNS for cPanel Email  Print this Article

Here is the list of values necessary for your cPanel email to operate properly.

Necessary Values Record Type  Host Record Use
Primary A Record A yourdomainname.com Your Hosting Account's IP address Indicates where your site is hosted
Mail A Record A mail.yourdomainname.com Your Hosting Account's IP address Confirms the mail server is on the same server
MX Record MX yourdomainname.com yourdomainname.com Informs email service providers that your mail is hosted on the domain name's server
SPF TXT yourdomainname.com v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:"Your Hosting Account's IP address" -all Validates that mail that is sent from your server is legitimate

Your cPanel will create these automatically, but if your site was migrated from another hosting provider, then you may need to check that all these records exist within your DNS zone file.
