How to setup DNS for cPanel Email Print this Article
Here is the list of values necessary for your cPanel email to operate properly.
Necessary Values | Record Type | Host | Record | Use |
Primary A Record | A | yourdomainname.com | Your Hosting Account's IP address | Indicates where your site is hosted |
Mail A Record | A | mail.yourdomainname.com | Your Hosting Account's IP address | Confirms the mail server is on the same server |
MX Record | MX | yourdomainname.com | yourdomainname.com | Informs email service providers that your mail is hosted on the domain name's server |
SPF | TXT | yourdomainname.com | v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:"Your Hosting Account's IP address" -all | Validates that mail that is sent from your server is legitimate |
Your cPanel will create these automatically, but if your site was migrated from another hosting provider, then you may need to check that all these records exist within your DNS zone file.
